Procedures for calling the emergency services

As you will appreciate with a campus such as Archway whereby we have seven main buildings, the ability to give clear instructions to the emergency services of the location of an incident on the campus is important. This also takes on a more significant presence at this campus in view of the various refurbishment projects taking place, which inevitably have an impact on access and egress. Any delay caused by the emergency services being unable to locate the scene quickly could prove stressful to those concerned and give rise to a possible fatal event occurring which could have perhaps been avoided by clearer instructions and lines of communication.

It is important therefore that in the event of the emergency services being required to attend to the campus that:

1. You dial 9-999

2. Call Security on 020 7281 0381 and tell them your location -

Security staff will then be posted at the entrances to the campus as appropriate to assist in directing the emergency services onto the campus and direct to the location of the incident.

3. Call The Archway Campus Site Manager on 077 4762 7695 and tell them your location

Depending on the nature of the incident The Archway Campus Site Manager will take control of events and co-ordinate all further lines of communication between the emergency services, site security and staff as appropriate.

Note: Should The Archway Campus Site Manager be unable to take control of events, i.e. due absence from the campus - they will automatically call the Site Services Assistant to assume responsibility

4. Following all incidents, the Security Supervisor or their immediate deputy will be required to submit a comprehensive report to The Archway Campus Site Manager of the incident so that investigations can be followed up thereafter if deemed necessary. All persons involved in the incident, including those providing assistance must therefore co-operate with the compiling of the report as required.
