Fundamentals of pain    [PHOL G008]

7.5 credit module for the M Sc School of Human Health and Performance

Aim. To cover key topics on the neuroscience of pain and to introduce current ideas about pain management.

Objectives. To learn the basic physiology and pharmacology of pain processing in the nervous system. To appreciate the special aspects of pain from the musculoskeletal system. To have a basic idea about psychological approaches to pain and pain management. This course will be a core (compulsory) course for musculo-skeletal physiotherapy and an option for cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, neurophysiotherapy, and sports and exercise medicine.
